Request a Food Truck for Your Community Voucher Program
Step 1. If you would like to request a truck bring food to your church, school or other location, please complete the form below and we will be in contact shortly. Before we book food trucks at your location for the first time, we will ensure that vendors meet all the local regulatory requirements.
Sample of social media & flyers we will create and help you to post & promote:
Health & Safety: In response to the Covid-19 situation, food truck operators are taking extra precautions: They have increased the frequency and thoroughness of hand-washing, glove replacement, and sanitation of their food prep areas. Their employees are well-formed and are closely monitoring their own health. Normal cleaning and sanitizing procedures are being followed, with extra attention to high touch surfaces, such as door knobs, tables and condiment containers. Food surfaces and high touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitized, using food grade sanitizer, and disinfectant is being used on all non-food areas, such as restrooms and floors. Employee health policies and procedures are reviewed with staff and will prohibit food workers from working in mobile food establishments while sick. King County health requires all business employees to wear a face covering when at any indoor or outdoor public space where they may be within 6 feet of someone who does not live with them, unless they have a medical exemption.
Step 2. You will receive an email after completion of the intake form and the WSFTA will contact you to arrange all the details including: where the truck will park, promotional items for social media, flyers, a schedule w/a link to share & the meal vouchers.
Common Program Q & A:
If we were to have a food truck on our property once a week, are we in essence making a commitment to cover the $800 minimum for that food truck each week, or, is our financial commitment only to the number of vouchers we choose to generate? You are not making any financial commitment, but do know, one food truck needs a sales minimum of $800 per 2-3 hour service to cover their time and costs (this is why we also encourage non-voucher customer participation as well.) Voucher values are pre-negotiated with each food truck operator to be $12. For example, if donations provide $800, that will buy 66-voucher meals.
What is the typical service time? Most trucks/trailers are used to a lunch service time of 11am to 2pm or a dinner service of 4pm to 7pm. Food trucks are fully self contained and will have their own power source.
How do the vouchers get distributed? Your vouchers can be distributed to local food banks, church participants, Salvation Army Bellevue Corp, YMCAs.
Can the food truck also take regular paying, non-voucher customers? Yes, we encourage this as it helps the truck to earn more income. We also encourage you to post up about a truck coming to your location on Next Door, your Facebook page & other outreach/communication methods.
Do we need to have someone on site during the entire food truck service? No. Once we know where you want the trucks to park on your property, we will communicate this to all the trucks who participate at your location. The truck will need to be reimbursed at the end of their service for the vouchers redeemed.
Why are food truck meals priced at $12? Food trucks, like many restaurants, operate on very small margins. After a food truck owner pays for food, employees, insurance, licenses, permits, propane, gas, commissary rent, cleaning & other supplies, and other incidentals they’re typically left with about 10-15% profit. Simply put, food trucks offer gourmet street cuisine and are not fast food. They have high costs to operate and use “local” fresh ingredients. This is a part of the great thing in getting a food truck meal voucher in the first place.
Additional Details & Items to Consider:
Food vouchers/coupons can be deposited in a receptacle at the food truck window.
We will build an online food truck schedule specific to your location that can always be found on the Street Food Finder app under the “Hot Spots” tab, see example here.
It is ideal to have a point of contact who can reimburse the vendor at the end of service and/or a person available to greet the arriving truck for any added instructions.
Trucks are required to have their own trash receptacle, and will “leave no trash behind.”
Trucks need a space of at least 10-feet in width by approximately 30-feet in length. The serving area you plan for trucks needs to have enough height clearance without obstructions from limbs, or nearby buildings. And, the ground surface should be as flat as possible. Food trucks operate best on a level surface (remember, they have deep fryers that do not work well at an angle). Make sure you are not asking them to drive over to many obstacles, like curbs.
Food trucks & trailers are fully self contained and will operate using a generator, but if you can offer access to power, please let us know.
Truck operators need access to a restroom within 500-feet when serving for longer than 1-hour. If this requirement cannot be met, please let us know so we can find an alternative option to still meet new Covid-related King County Health requirements.
Each vendor will also submit a Certificate of Insurance, naming your property location as the additionally insured.
We will help all hosts promote this program throughout their community to create awareness for both the residents "in need" and others who just want to buy a meal to support the food truck!
